Its name comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus, a man known for his extraordinary beauty who fell in love with his reflection in a pool of water, ultimately leading to his death. This story associates daffodils with self-love and vanity. In other contexts, however, bright, spring-blooming daffodils also symbolize new life and the triumph of life over death.
